Microsoft's Rover the Dog

Question: What infamous 1990s Microsoft software featured a talking dog named Rover and is often cited as one of the worst user interfaces in tech history?

Answer: Microsoft Bob

Launched in 1995, Microsoft Bob featured a cartoon-style virtual house and animated assistants like Rover the dog. It was designed to make PCs easier for beginners but was widely criticized for being clunky and childish. Despite good intentions, it’s now remembered as one of Microsoft’s biggest flops.

Why "Dooley?"

Inspired by the founder's alma mater - Emory University's spirit mascot, Dooley represents the voice of the student body. And when Dooley shows up to your class, you can count on a fun time and the rest of the day off!
